Principal Product Engineer - Digital Twins

Remote Eligible, US Full Time

Overview

Significant advancements in the 3D capabilities of ArcGIS over the years have laid the groundwork for digital twins in local government, resulting in many opportunities for Esri. Accordingly, we are looking for an experienced product strategist to help advance our digital twin offerings in the local government sector (both US domestic and international). Our multidisciplinary team consists of exceptional software and product engineers, UX designers and architects who love to work in a highly social, collaborative, friendly and fun work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the R&D of the 3D city data model and its tools
    • Co-own the vision and strategy of the 3D city data model on the ArcGIS platform
    • Help define and evolve the data model and schema.
    • Investigate the foundational role of AI in mapping the objects, states, relationships, and workflows in the domain
    • Participate in the standardization processes
    • Ensure alignment with internal & external stakeholders
  • Shape applications and solutions for Digital Twins in local government
    • Lead the requirements engineering for domain-specific applications such as 3D cadastre, emergency response, and AR use cases
    • Contribute to the design and specification of urban analysis and simulation solutions built on top of the 3D city data model
    • Collaborate closely with Development and Solutions teams to translate concepts into impactful products
  • Help articulate vision and execution
    • Partner with development leads, product managers, and industry specialists to articulate a compelling Digital Twin story with technical depth and breadth that goes beyond abstract concepts and specific solutions.
    • Where necessary, help establish sustainable team structures that enable delivery, aligned with platform architecture advancements
  • Engage with the wider community
    • Represent the team in outreach activities, including shaping the messaging, helping to prepare marketing materials, writing, and speaking.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of commercial and/or government experience in the shaping, articulation, definition, and design of software products
  • Deep passion to make the world’s cities a better place
  • Long-term willingness to execute the corresponding visionary plan
  • Outstanding domain expertise and technology understanding
  • Excellent skills in strategic discussions, collaboration, writing, presentations
  • Experience in hiring and leading engineers, and executing long-term strategies
  • Willingness to travel and do outreach work
  • Strong professional network in related fields
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Architecture, GIS, Urban Planning or a related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Architecture, GIS, Urban Planning or a related field
  • Experience with Esri’s ArcGIS platform

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

$116,480$187,200 USD
