Principal Practice Educator

About This Opportunity  

As a Principal Practice Educator, you’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of health professionals through high-quality, practice-based learning. You’ll facilitate student learning across diverse uni-professional and inter-professional settings, including simulation labs, while supporting placements, assessments, and student development.

You’ll build strong relationships with placement providers, expand placement opportunities, and contribute to preparing and evaluating student placement experiences. Working collaboratively with academic and clinical teams, you’ll help deliver impactful, hands-on education that bridges classroom and clinical practice.

You will be primarily based at St Lucia, however most of the work will occur off campus at various sites as dictated by placement locations.

It is expected that planned leave will be taken outside of the primary practice teaching periods that align with the academic calendar or practice placement periods. 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating all aspects of onsite clinical placements

  • Supporting, mentoring and assessing students during placements

  • Maintaining working relationships with School staff as well as placement providers, ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders

  • Outside of placement periods, supporting the development of policies and guides

About You

  • Degree in Social Work and current AASW registration (including a current blue card)

  • Minimum 5 years’ professional Social Work experience

  • Strong, up-to-date industry knowledge to deliver evidence-based, practice-focused education

  • Proven ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and placement partners

  • Skilled in supervision, assessment and facilitation across diverse and simulated learning settings

  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills

  • Confident using digital tools for teaching, reporting and administration

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, education check and AASW registration.
