The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team:

Summary of Role:

The products and services RTX provide to the United States Government are critical to our nation’s security.  It is imperative that our programs can securely collaborate to provide services, develop new capabilities, and improve existing capabilities.  We are looking for a network engineer who can support this vital mission.

The RTX Classified Network Services team is an enterprise-level team that provides secure, robust, and collaborative networks to our programs in Raytheon, Collins Aerospace, and Pratt & Whitney.  Our multiple nationwide networks offer secure data, voice, and video connecting RTX users with each other and government customers. 

The ideal candidate will have experience in LAN/WAN routing and switching, data center, and firewall administration in a classified operating environment.

This candidate will be a member of the RTX Classified Digital Services Network team, with a primary work location of Tewksbury, MA. Candidate must possess an active DoD Secret clearance on Day 1 and maintain throughout employment and be potentially clearable through Top Secret. Relocation support may be available according to our company policy requirements.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain, and upgrade (software/firmware/hardware) LAN/WAN components including routers, switches, firewalls.
  • Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize network system performance, proactively identifying and quickly resolving service impacting issues.
  • Drive and/or participate in large projects in support of installation and/or improvement to voice, video, and network infrastructure.
  • Produce, update and generally improve technical documentation to support security requirements and operational support of systems.
  • Review systems vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with recognized industry standards and best practices.
  • May require occasional on-call and on-site support of networks after normal business hours including weekends.
  • May require occasional travel to other sites within the United States (less than 10% of time)

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum 5 years of experience, or an Advanced Degree and a minimum 3 years experience.
  • 3+ years experience with Cisco NGFW, Nexus switches, and NX-OS in enterprise-class environments.
  • 3+ years experience routing with static routes and dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF
  • 3+ years experience with switching technologies such as STP, VTP and VLANs
  • Proficient with administration of Next Generation Firewalls such as Cisco ASA
  • Experience creating and maintaining accurate network diagrams and documentation using standard software such as Microsoft Visio
  • Have a DoD 8570 – IAT Level III security certification (e.g CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, CCSP) or able to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
  • Candidate must possess an active DoD Secret clearance on Day 1 and maintain throughout employment and be potentially clearable through Top Secret.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Good understanding of Data Center concepts and architectures
  • Experience as a Network Administrator in classified environments highly desired.

Experience configuring and troubleshooting:

  • Type-1 HAIPE encryptors via GemOne
  • VPN technologies and protocols such as IPSEC, GRE, L2TP, and DMVPN
  • Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) and Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM)
  • Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE)
  • RADIUS and TACACS+ authentication, authorization, and accounting
  • 802.1x
  • RSA SecurID
  • Working knowledge of operating network vulnerability and compliance scanning software, such as ACAS or Tenable Nessus
  • Working knowledge of SNMP-based network management tools (e.g. SolarWinds, PRTG)
  • Experience with automating network tasks with Ansible and/or Python
  • Hands on experience with Palo Alto NGFW

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
