Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH

Project Engineer Job Description (on site)

Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH (PWAEI), an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies Corporation (RTX), is an international aerospace company headquartered in Lucerne, Switzerland. PWAEI is collaborating with three other aerospace companies to produce and maintain the V2500 commercial aircraft engine, which powers the Airbus A320ceo and Embraer C-390 family of aircraft.

We are looking for a Project Engineer with a strong aerospace engineering background, ideally with experience in gas turbine engines, aerospace quality systems, and manufacturing or MRO operations.

This position sits within the Engineering and Quality Department, bridging engineering, quality, and operations. It’s ideal for someone who combines a hands-on understanding of production realities with the ability to drive structured, high-integrity program execution in a regulated aerospace environment.

The successful candidate will coordinate complex projects, ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards, and represent engineering excellence both internally and toward customers and suppliers.

This position is located at the PWAEI Headquarters in Lucerne, Switzerland and reports to the Head of Engineering and Quality department.

Areas of Responsibility include but are not limited to:

-Lead and coordinate engineering and quality-driven projects across design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

-Serve as the technical and quality focal point for assigned engine modules or component programs.

-Apply and uphold aerospace quality system principles (AS9100) in project execution and supplier interactions.

-Conduct or support internal and supplier process audits, identifying improvement actions and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

-Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement activities using 8D, FMEA, and risk management tools.

-Ensure configuration control, documentation traceability, and alignment of technical data with certification and production requirements.

-Interface with suppliers and customers to manage technical deliverables, validation milestones, and quality compliance.

-Integrate feedback from manufacturing, testing, and service experience into future design and process improvements.

-Prepare and present project reviews, technical summaries, and risk assessments to management and external stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent relevant degree

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in aerospace or gas turbine engineering, including exposure to quality and manufacturing disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of AS9100, AS9102 (FAI), and general aerospace compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with process or system auditing (AS9100 Internal Auditor certification preferred).
  • Proven ability to work with quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, control plans, PPAP, and process capability studies.
  • Prior experience in a production, assembly, or MRO environment before transitioning to an office-based engineering or Program role is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, capable of influencing across matrix engineering, quality, and supplier interfaces. Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • English language proficiency required
  • Detail and results oriented person with excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to meet commitments, balance and resolve conflicting priorities

Ideal Candidate

You bring both technical depth and quality discipline. You’ve worked in or closely with manufacturing environments and understand what “airworthy” means not just as a standard but as a mindset.

You can challenge, question, and validate processes constructively, ensuring that engineering and quality solutions are robust, compliant, and deliverable. You enjoy managing complex programs and know how to bridge the gap between design intent and production reality.
