The NSF HAMMER-ERC at The Ohio State University invites applications for a Post Doctoral Scholar position focused on developing a novel engineered systems for hybrid combinations of  Additive Manufacturing and mechanical deformation, and possibly other manufacturing technologies.  We are seeking a motivated and skilled researcher with a strong background in materials processing equipment development.

The ideal candidate will have experience applying domain knowledge in materials science and engineering as well as machine design and construction to create, with our great team, a new generation of manufacturing devices.  This person is also expected to engage undergraduates in assisting in the design and construction and will also be an active advocate in their professional development.

This person will be apart of a team that will provide design and mechanical testing supervision, support undergraduate and graduate research assistants, and analyze the data they collect and prepare that data for publication and presentation at scientific meetings. The person will also interact with a large number of internal and external partners.

Required Education: PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or similar. 

Required Experience: Background in wire arc additive manufacturing, deformation processing, machine design and building and managing projects in an academic environment. Experience in equipment design, build and materials structure and property assessment.
