Job Summary:

The Portfolio Analyst - Investments, is a member of the Investment Management team primarily responsible for: (1) portfolio-level analytics and performance reporting, (2) security-level data collection, processing and trade entry, (3) fixed-income market research and weekly tactical report to inform portfolio management and investment decisions, (4) investment-related data management, validation and process improvement, (5) response to data requests from various teams across the organization, (6) vendor searches, due diligence and relationship management.

Candidates will work with a cross-section of professionals, including principal investment professionals, actuaries, accountants, and product development teams to optimize investment outcomes for both public and private investment strategies.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Contribute to the company’s success through meeting or exceeding performance objectives for the following major job functions:

25%     Lead analysis in support of benchmarking, reporting, performance and attribution analysis, surveillance, and compliance testing.

25%     Lead efforts for the investment management team to review, assess and implement improvements of credit and investment analytical tools. Operate Bloomberg Terminal, FactSet Workstation, S&P Global, ICE Index Platform, Barclays Live, and other service providers to facilitate internal data distribution, reporting and market intelligence. 

25%     Provide support to portfolio management team including trade tracking and input, cash flow monitoring, new-issue deal sourcing and various other tasks. Serve as a liaison between portfolio management and investment operations teams.

15%     Improve operational efficiencies enable portfolio optimization, data integrity and reporting accuracy. Develop new tools to streamline and automate processes.

10%     Perform ad-hoc analyses in response to market events, new business needs and special projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Project management experience.

  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.

  • Acute attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated while working in a team-oriented environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Job Specifications

Required Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Mathematics or related field.

Preferred Education:  N/A

Required Experience: 

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in a principal investment business or a capital markets business.

  • Demonstrated strong financial modeling & analytical skills applied in an investment or capital market business environment, with some expertise in United States capital markets.

  • Familiarity with fixed income investments such as corporate bonds, structured securities and private placements.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and one of the major fixed-income analytics software programs (FactSet, Aladdin, Bond Edge, etc.)

  • Proficiency in FactSet and performance analysis is a plus.

Preferred professional licensure or certification:  Progress toward or interest in obtaining CFA

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.

Salary Range:

Base range of $85k-$95k with a 20% annual bonus and 3% annual merit increase
