Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Scott AFB Golf Course. 0-40 hours per week

Major Duties:

  • Independently installs, modifies, repairs and maintains a variety of new and existing utilities, supply and disposal systems and equipment associated with golf course irrigation systems. Plans and ensures the proper slant, slope, fall or level of installation to provide for proper flow, drainage and sanitary operating conditions and to prevent backflow, vacuum or air lock conditions. Maintains records and documents actions. Plans and accomplishes work from initial layout to final assembly which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches and other plumbing guides/codes and using shop mathematics. Troubleshoots/tests various plumbing systems and equipment including backflow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principle devices, double check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers and other cross connection devices. Uses and maintains tools such as tapes, rules, plumb bobs, hand and power pipe threaders, cutters, pipe wrenches, angle drills, hacksaws and power saws, power sewer cleaning equipment, various gas detectors and meters and lead pots. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of: basic electricity and hydraulics related to irrigation systems, including automatic valves and controllers, and working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems. Requires understanding of agronomy, turfgrass science and the rules of golf; knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area maintenance work; ability to operate light motorized equipment; and ability to follow oral and written directions.
