What's Exciting About the Role

Verifone is seeking a Platform Engineer to join our incredible Platform Engineering team. This role is focused on supporting and maintaining applications within payment environments. The primary task for this position involves designing and implementing automation processes that support the integration, deployment, and monitoring of critical applications within multiple payment gateway solutions that process billions of transactions annually.

You will be working standard business hours; however, some "out-of-hours" support may be required dependent on business requirements.  Once sufficient experience has been gained, all employees will participate in a formal "out-of-hours," on-call support rotation, covering weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure performance, availability, and scalability of infrastructure and services meet SLAs.
  • Automate and optimize BAU tasks using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor, respond to, and escalate service incidents, ensuring resolution within SLA.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application deployment and infrastructure updates.
  • Collaborate with Development and QA teams to support release management and acceptance testing.
  • Support deployments and system changes with the implementation of automated tools.
  • Lead and support major change initiatives, working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of DevOps policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Define and maintain SLAs and SLOs for infrastructure and application services.
  • Participate in RFP responses and technical evaluations as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and SLA reports.
  • Participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation, responding to alerts and incidents affecting infrastructure and services.
  • Support project delivery teams with infrastructure and automation expertise.

Skills and Experience We Require

  • 2+ years’ experience with Platform Engineering / DevOps within production environment.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in Linux system administration, shell scripting, and Ansible or Puppet.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and application support concepts.
  • Programming/scripting skills in a modern language like Python, Go, or Rust with a basic understanding of Java.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools (build/release process, CI/CD, automation, monitoring).
  • Experience providing on-call support.
  • Proficiency in business applications: Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Project.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Oracle or other relational databases.
  • Experience working within financial services industry, particularly exposure to payment solutions.
  • Knowledge of PCI-DSS standards and regulations.
