The Opportunity
We’re looking for a driven and strategic professional to lead high-impact pitch and proposal initiatives across the Australian region working out of our Melbourne or Sydney office.
You’ll play a key role in shaping client-centric responses, managing complex pursuits, and driving revenue growth. This role suits someone commercially astute, collaborative, and confident influencing senior stakeholders, with a passion for delivering tailored solutions and fostering a strong pursuits culture.
This role would suit someone with a proven history of success in legal business development, but we are also open to candidates with transferrable commercial writing experience in the energy and infrastructure sector.
What you’ll do
Lead and manage strategic pitch responses (e.g. panels, RFPs, unsolicited proposals) from initiation to submission, ensuring tailored, high-quality outcomes
Scope opportunities and define pitch strategy, including persuasive value propositions and client-centric messaging
Conduct internal and external client research to inform pitch direction
Project manage the full pitch lifecycle, coordinating timelines, stakeholders, and contributing teams (e.g. pricing, compliance, BD, design)
Drive best practice in pitching, including compliance, database logging, and conflict checks
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to manage workflow and expectations across BD and partnership teams
Develop and write tailored content aligned to client sectors and RFP requirements
Lead pitch debriefs and share insights to improve future performance
Work closely with global pitching teams to ensure consistency and share best practices
Support firm-wide pursuit strategy, contributing to revenue growth and panel appointments
What you’ll bring
Proven experience in business development, bids and proposal management within a law firm or professional services environment, ideally with a focus on energy and infrastructure
Strong track record in managing strategic pursuits and building trusted stakeholder relationships
Skilled in tailoring proposals to client needs through strategic thinking, problem solving, and collaboration
Commercially minded with the ability to identify cross-selling opportunities and craft bespoke value-added offerings
Confident working with cross-functional teams (e.g. risk, pricing, conflicts) and influencing decision-making
Able to coach and influence partners, lawyers and BD teams, and deliver training to junior lawyers
Familiar with best practice pursuit systems and processes
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Innovative, results-driven and tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline
