Description:
This individual provides care to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist. The PTA will implement physical therapy interventions, obtain data, and document results of treatment sessions. This individual will collaborate with a team of experienced therapists to help promote the patient’s personalized goals, while also supporting our organizational mission, values, and actions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists physical therapists in performing tests, evaluations, treatment procedures, and job simulation training.
- Exercises responsibility for patient’s personal care and environment throughout treatment.
- Provides patient treatment as outlined by physical therapist’s plan of care.
- Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart.
- Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions according to plan of care.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Completion of a two-year college program leading to Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant
- Compliance with the State of Iowa Physical Therapy Association Rules and Regulations concerning licensure
- Experience: One year experience in acute setting preferred.
- Special Skills and Competencies: Ability to communicate with patient and instruct them in exercise programs.
