Patient Access Representatives deliver what matters most to our patients and their families, ensure exceptional experiences and thrive on making positive impacts in the community. As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patients as well as verify information and collect copays. You are the first person the patient will interact with once they are through security, and you will set the tone for how the visit goes. Patients are not at their best during an Emergency Department visit, making empathy a vital trait for this caregiver to have. Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients, physicians and family members.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM – 11:00PM. Candidates must be flexible and able to work 8 to 12-hour shifts as needed to support departmental operations and staffing requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financial.
Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree
Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems

Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
