Job Title: Parking Services Ambassador

Department/Division: Parking Services

Reports to: Parking Ambassador, Senior Student, Supervisor, Parking Services

Compensation: $17.60 per Hour

POSITION SUMMARY (Purpose/Accountability)

Parking Services oversees the sale of parking permits, visitor paid parking, way finding, event signage, monitoring/directing university traffic for special events, and enforcement. 

The Parking Ambassador position will support the daily operations by providing a memorable customer experience.  This will be achieved by, but not limited to, responding to all in-person phone or email inquiries, accepting payment for permits, passes, and fees/fines, assisting with traffic direction for special events, and issuing parking violations when necessary. 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service

  • Greet customers.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Office

  • Respond to in person, phone, and email inquiries.
  • Process payments through a POS system using debit, credit, and cash transactions.
  • Regular record keeping and e-filling.
  • Assist with special event planning and signage.
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Student and/or Supervisor.

Enforcement

  • Monitor main campus parking lots and enforce Brock parking rules and regulations.
  • Issue tickets for parking violations.
  • Assist with immobilization/tow of vehicles found not in compliance.
  • Aid in placement of directional signage located in parking lots.
  • Occasional traffic direction for special events.
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Student/Supervisor.

Knowledge (know how, specific skills):

  • Knowledge of customer service, general office administration, including office procedures, shared drives, inventory management, and communications.
  • Demonstrate ability to handle cash and other financial transactions, including deposits.
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Use of Parking Services technology (i.e. AIMS and Honk).

Human Relation Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Brock Parking Rules and Regulations and how they apply to the day -to-day operations.
  • Strong conflict resolution and mitigation skills an asset when occasionally interacting with dissatisfied customers.

Problem Solving, Analysis & Innovation:

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills required to interpret and support complex policy and procedure.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Able to meet deadlines, manage time and work in a busy environment where multi-tasking is the norm.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Effort:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Periodically required to move sandwich board signs, boxes of supplies, cones, pylons etc. during peak periods.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Physical Environment:

  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, snow, rain, etc.)
  • Walk on mixed terrain and remain outdoors for extended periods of time.
  • Varied shifts that include mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
  • Occasionally required to assist with traffic flow for large University events during peak times.

Sensory Attention:

  • Requires regular use of a computer, smart phone, and two-way radio communication.
