What you will do
Johnson Controls is seeking an OpenBlue CUP Controls System Engineer to lead the process of system integration and commissioning for the OpenBlue Central Utility Plant (CUP) solution for district energy plants across the globe. You will act as the project leader to plan, execute, and complete Central Utility Plant projects with assigned customers. You'll partner with customers to meet the project implementation schedule goals and will need to delegate tasks to fully complete assigned projects including: hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning and project closeout. You will also mentor and train plant operators and other end users to take full advantage of the OpenBlue CUP software solution and provides technical support during the warranty period. This is a remote opportunity for someone preferably based in the southwest region of the US.
How you will do it
Assess central plants to prepare drawings and written scopes of work for new sensors, meters, and controls recommissioning that must be installed to be “CUP-Ready”
Creates and executes integration test plans to ensure proper bidirectional flow of data and commands between CPO and the plant automation system, in partnership with the controls service contractor.
Overseeing point mapping and programming of the local plant automation system to ensure smooth transfer between operating modes
Validates system functionality, analyzes command dispatch results, and troubleshoots problems throughout the commissioning process
Develops strong relationships with customers by leading regular progress meetings and training plant operator to earn their confidence in following the CUP commands.
What we look for
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
5+ year of experience in building automation controls engineering, programming, and commissioning.
Experience in integration of low voltage building sub-systems using industry standard protocols (i.e. BACnet, Modbus, LON etc).
Experience engineering and implementing central utility plant control sequences. Experience in leading plant automation startup and commissioning in a live operating critical facility for at least five projects.
Project management skills and experience
Ability to travel up to 50% including some international travel.
Preferred
Master’s degree or Professional Engineer Registration
Background in Metasys suite of tools
Programming capability for multiple makes/models of building automation systems (BAS) and programmable logic control (PLC) system
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $110,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
