Job Summary

The Nurse Manager, under administrative direction and consistent with the hospital philosophy, assesses, plans, implements and evaluates delivery of nursing care. He/she provides managerial support to the Director by providing supervision and evaluation of all department personnel. He/she contributes to the nursing department and the hospital through support of nursing and program philosophy and objectives

Essential Functions

  • Provides leadership and direction in accordance with the hospital's guidelines and consistent with nursing and program goals and objectives.
  • Continuously mentors, counsels, trains and facilitates goal setting of staff through performance development program. 
  • Collaborates with the Director in maintenance of the therapeutic environment.
  • Recruits, interviews and selects nursing staff.
  • Provides input in formulating patient care policies and procedures for the unit, nursing department and organizational structure.
  • Collaborates with the medical, clinical staff to coordinate and manage the department’s patient care
  • Supervises all nursing activities by setting guidelines for accurate reporting and recording of patient's symptoms, reactions and progress.
  • Evaluates nursing care through assessment, planning, intervention, re-evaluation, written documentation, observation and comparison to established standards and the patient's individual treatment plans.
  • Function as a resource nurse for staff.  Administers nursing care to patients, assess particular patient requirements and/or to provide clinical support to the staff nurses as needed.
  • Continuously assess work environment and processes to identify risks and escalates as appropriate.
  • Attends meetings and serves on department and hospital wide committees as assigned

Job Qualifications

Education   

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN required

Experience

  • Two years recent nursing experience in a relevant setting
  • One year of supervisory experience

  • Current CA RN License
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
  • Clinical certifications (i.e. ACLS) relevant to their area of service

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Active membership in Professional Nursing organization
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities; able to work under stressful conditions
  • Ability to read, write and understand English language
  • Proven ability to communicate with all staff across the hospital
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Organized and self-driven.
  • Basic financial budget knowledge
  • Strong understanding of safety, security and joint commission standards as it pertains to role

    Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $86.53 - $116.42 per hour

    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
