Job Summary: You will serve as a NUCLEAR ENGINEER/HEALTH PHYSICIST in the Radiological Affairs Support Program Division, Code 105.11 of PSNS and IMF.

Major Duties:

  • You will perform a variety of health physics services in support of the Industrial Health Radiation Program and special health physics projects.
  • You will perform engineering analysis and apply health physics to the procurement of materials and equipment.
  • You will conduct inspections and surveillances of operations performed by other organizations to determine compliance with requirements promulgated by the Shipyard and high authorities.
  • You will determine and recommend appropriate corrective actions concerning deficiencies identified.
  • You will prepare and evaluate reports of investigations, analyses, and surveys.
  • You will provide assessments, conclusions, and recommendations of program changes/modifications to fulfill the objective of the Radiation Affairs Support Program Division.
  • You will solve critical problems and provide written instructions and reports that translate general requirements into easy-to-follow step-by-step procedures, guidelines, and recommendations.

Qualifications: GS-12 Specialized Experience In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Engineer or Health Physicist interpreting and advising on safety requirements to recommend improvements for an industrial radiation health program. GS-11 Specialized Experience In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Engineer or Health Physicist investigating compliance with safety requirements to assess an industrial radiation health program.
