People are living longer and we’re excited by the opportunities this brings to help people live their best lives. We’re here for everyone who wants to make the most of their time on the planet and leave it a little better than they found it – however grand or humble their ambitions.

We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments. At Aegon, we strive in creating a diverse organisation that plays a meaningful role in driving greater equity, inclusion and belonging.

Are you a newly qualified solicitor with a passion for providing strategic legal advice in a dynamic business environment? We have a fantastic opportunity to work in a collaborative, forward thinking environment where your legal expertise will directly influence business outcomes. You’ll be part of a team that values innovation, integrity, and professional growth.

As a Solicitor within our Legal team, you’ll play a key role in supporting the business by delivering legal and technical advice, guidance, and recommendations that enable informed decision making and help the Group achieve its strategic objectives across propositions, legislative, and technical matters.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need to hold a UK legal qualification and a law degree. You’ll be confident in providing clear, effective advice and capable of managing aspects of your workload independently, while also collaborating closely with others. Although initial supervision will be provided, you’ll be supported with ongoing training and development to deepen your expertise in financial services and pensions.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide legal and technical advice on propositions, legislation, and technical matters to support the Group’s strategic aims.

  • Advise on a broad range of legal and project matters in a risk aware, solution focused manner, reducing reliance on external counsel.

  • Draft, review, and update customer and adviser facing documentation to ensure clarity and compliance.

  • Support wider Group Legal and Company Secretariat activities, including matters beyond propositions when required.

  • Build strong internal relationships to influence decision making and deliver legal opinions that align with business objectives.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • A legal qualification as a solicitor or advocate/barrister in Scotland or England & Wales.

  • Hands on experience with financial services products, whether gained in-house or in private practice.

  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks relating to Pensions, ISAs, General Investment Accounts, and Protection products.

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to produce clear, precise legal documentation.

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

  • A sharp analytical mindset, able to interpret complex legal matters and apply them commercially.

  • Great organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

  • A keen eye for detail and a pragmatic, business oriented approach to legal problem solving.

What’s in it for you?

  • We’re serious about your future and our enhanced pension scheme is now in place.  We ask you to contribute 3% of your salary to your pension and we’ll put in 9%.  If you decide to contribute more, we’ll match it up to a combined total of 20% of your salary (that’s 7% from you and 13% from us).

  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance

  • 34 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time)

We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.  To find out more about what to expect at Aegon, visit our careers site.
