The MRI Tech Assistant supports MRI Technologists in delivering high-quality imaging services. This role involves direct patient care, equipment preparation, and maintaining a safe and efficient imaging environment. The assistant ensures patient comfort and safety while adhering to MRI safety protocols.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Enrollment in or completion of a radiology, MRI, or medical assistant program preferred.
• CPR/BCLS certification required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Onsite work in hospital.
• May involve variable shifts, including evenings or weekends.
• Requires physical activity such as lifting and patient transport.

Employment Type: Full Time

Shift: 7a-3p (Mon-Fri)

Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40
Requirements:

- High school diploma or GED required

- BLS/CPR through the American Heart Association

- Enrollment in or completion of a radiology, MRI, or medical assistant program preferred

- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Patient Support:

  • Escort and position patients for MRI procedures.
  • Assist with patient transfers from beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers.
  • Transports ED and Inpatients to and from the department to ensure timely completion of exams.
  • Conduct initial MRI safety screenings and interview. Includes screening for any metal objects and implants.
  • Provide clear instructions and reassurance to patients.
  • Change outpatients into gowns for procedure.
  • Gains IV access as needed or contrast patients- Does not inject contrast

Room & Equipment Preparation:

  • Prepare imaging rooms with appropriate coils and supplies.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and exam tables between patients.
  • Stock the room with supplies and linen.
  • Orders supplies for the department.
  • Utilizes a variety of coils, patient monitoring equipment, and loading of the power injector.

Administrative Duties:

  • Schedule optimization and manage patient flow.
  • Scanning in paperwork and completing paperwork with patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Answering the phones

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with MRI safety protocols, especially in high magnetic field environments.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations, including MRI quench events.
  • Report on safety concerns to supervisory personnel.
