The Iowa State University Athletics Department is seeking a passionate and collaborative Mental Health Clinical Therapist to join our dedicated Sports Medicine team in supporting the holistic well-being of student-athletes. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to provide in-person, on-site mental health care—including individual and group counseling, crisis support, case management, and outreach programming—within a department that values the unique experiences of student-athletes and is committed to their growth, development, and overall mental wellness. No two days are the same.
What you’ll do:
The successful candidates will have compassion and possess strong case management, counseling, communication, and problem-solving skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. This position requires working on-sight and the ability to meet with students during evenings or weekends, and in crisis situations as needed.
Licensure through the Iowa Department of Public Health must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
Level Guidelines
• Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISU’s mission and department or work unit goals
• Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude
• Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action
• Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices
• Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff
