Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for Patient Visits: Review and update patient records before face-to-face or Telehealth appointments, ensuring all recent test results and correspondence are up-to-date.

  • Maintain Exam Rooms: Clean and stock exam rooms between patient visits, adhering to infection control standards.

  • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for their visit and notify the physician or mid-level provider when they are ready to be seen.

  • Initial Medical Screening: Greet patients, take vital signs, and document basic medical history accurately.

  • Assist During Exams: Support physicians or mid-level providers during patient examinations.

  • Efficient Use of Time: Restock supplies, check inventory, and keep all areas clean and orderly.

Qualifications:

  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to take medical histories, understand instructions, and document information accurately. High degree of diplomacy and tact.

  • Technical Skills: Beginner to intermediate computing and phone skills.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to various job duties and cross-train within other departments.

  • Multi-tasking: Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Experience working with diverse populations.

  • Professionalism: Knowledge of “Universal Precautions” and adherence to HIPAA standards.

  • Language Skills: Bilingual in English/Spanish or other languages is a plus.

  • Driver’s License: Valid State Driver’s License preferred.

Preferred (although not required) Skills:

  • Ability to:

    • Collect, review, and analyze patient data to ensure compliance with HEDIS measures.

    • Work with healthcare providers to implement quality improvement initiatives.

    • Monitor and report on quality metrics, identifying areas for improvement.

    • Educate patients on preventive care and chronic disease management to improve HEDIS scores.

    • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop and implement best practices.

Education:

High school diploma or GED required. Current, valid Certification of Medical Assistant. Current, valid CPR certification.
