Mechanical Engineering Manager, Industrial Refrigeration

What You Will Do

As the Mechanical Engineering Manager for Industrial Refrigeration in Denmark, you will lead a skilled team of engineers, primarily based in Hornslet, Denmark.

Your team will be responsible for reviewing and finalizing the mechanical design of turnkey refrigeration systems for projects handed over by the pre-sales engineering team, ensuring they’re free of design defects and compliant with regulations.

Your team’s engineering scope will include:

  • Calculations (thermodynamics, valve and automation sizing, equipment sizing, etc.),
  • Documents (IOMs, quality assurance, and regulation compliance),
  • Drawing (P&ID, 2D, 3D, Isometric, etc.),
  • Specifications and BOMs,
  • Control philosophy narrative, in collaboration with the electrical and controls engineering team.

You will work closely with the execution team to ensure successful project delivery.

This is a pivotal leadership role where you will drive technical excellence, team development, and operational efficiency, contributing directly to the success of our industrial refrigeration and heat pump business.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of design engineers.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
  • Plan and manage team resources to meet productivity and project delivery targets.

Engineering Oversight

  • Oversee and contribute to the execution of key engineering tasks, including:
    • P&ID drawings
    • Valve and instrument lists
    • 2D/3D layout drawings
    • Piping isometric drawings
    • BOMs
    • RFPs for main equipment
    • Regulatory compliance
  • Provide technical support to the pre-sales engineering team as needed.

Project Engineering Management

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations and effective communication within the team.
  • Monitor project engineering progress, risks, and deliverables to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the pre-sales engineering team to ensure seamless project handovers and accurate cost estimations.
  • Align engineering activities with operational and financial objectives.

Process Improvement & Standardization

  • Drive standardization of tools, processes, and documentation to improve efficiency.
  • Promote innovation and best practices across the engineering function.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with project execution and product management teams to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Support procurement and operations in achieving cost certainty and profitability.
