Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineer performs a wide variety of design and engineering duties that require ingenuity, creativity, and sound technical judgment. This position is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and detailing machinery, systems, and components with consideration for functionality, manufacturability, safety, and cost efficiency. The role also provides on-site technical support for equipment installation and troubleshooting at customer locations.

Key Responsibilities & Complexities

  • Develop detailed machine, system, or component designs from engineering data, specifications, and design sketches using CAD tools.
  • Prepare layouts, 3D models, assembly drawings, and pneumatic schematics to support manufacturing and product development.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to materials, stresses, clearances, ratios, tolerances, and other critical design parameters.
  • Evaluate designs to ensure fit, function, manufacturability, and compliance with performance requirements.
  • Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), project documentation, and design records.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, assembly, and supply chain, to ensure successful design implementation.
  • Support supplier relationships and provide technical input regarding materials, fabrication methods, and quality standards.
  • Assist field service and customer teams by visiting customer facilities to provide technical support, resolve issues, or oversee installation and startup.
  • Manage and maintain design and project files in accordance with company standards.

Competencies & Skills

  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and assembly layouts.
  • Excellent analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in applying engineering principles and mathematical formulas to practical design challenges.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost considerations.
  • Hands-on familiarity with precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.
  • Experience using 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software; SolidWorks proficiency preferred.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in customer facilities and maintaining professional relationships.

Education & Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field required.
  • 2 Plus years of relevant experience in mechanical design or machinery development preferred.
  • Experience in industrial machinery, custom automation, or equipment manufacturing environments is a plus.
