Mechanical Design Engineer - Onsite

The Mechanical Design Engineer generates concepts and develops them into complex detailed mechanical designs and assemblies.  The Mechanical Design Engineer documents these designs in CAD tools and supports the design integration process through prototyping, initial assembly and production of those designs. The Mechanical Design Engineer provides technical support to the department's activities in engineering analysis, materials science, environmental testing, and failure investigations as well as support to Operations.

​Salary Range:  $74,600 - $99,500 plus bonus opportunity

Your Challenge:

  • Mechanical design of complex rugged mechanical structure for computers and chassis systems, PWB mechanical design details, thermal and structural design considerations, and mechanical assembly drawings

  • Support R&D Engineering teams in regular design reviews

  • Stay current with new trends in design and materials used for rugged electronics environments

  • Working on CAD software to create drawing specifications in line with the needs of the customer

  • Creating designs in accordance with company procedures and best practices

  • Creating prototypes, testing them, and analyzing the results

  • Submitting drawings to relevant stakeholders as well as production teams

  • Providing support during the entire building process to ensure that the design specifications are met

  • Analyzing problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and recommending solutions

What you Bring:

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with focus on mechanical design

  • 6-10+ years of work experience, preferably in an aerospace or electronics industry

  • A working knowledge and experience with a recognized CAD tools suite for mechanical design, preferably PTC CREO

  • Experience with MIL-STD’s and other Aerospace specifications is an asset

  • An asset would be experience with FEA/CFD analysis tools
