What you will do
Leading a team of CAD designers for mechanical system design for HVAC product development and delivery. Must understand the mechanical and structural design requirement for HVAC equipment like AHU, Fan and Chiller. Responsible for systems design and develop complete HVAC products based on design requirements and meeting standards, review, verification and validation.    This position requires the ability to work under minimal direction in collaboration with global teams to design and develop robust system solutions that meet defined system requirements.
How you will do it
- Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical design by conceptualizing and implementing innovative product solutions.
- Understand mechanical design requirements for HVAC equipment such as Air Handling Units (AHUs), Terminal Units, and Fan Blowers, aligning with overall project scope.
- Estimate work effort, plan design activities, and manage delivery to meet project standards for quality, reliability, and performance.
- Own all aspects of mechanical design for AHUs, Terminal Units, and Fans, ensuring alignment with customer and system requirements.
- Analyze and evaluate engineering designs, review drawings, and prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring thorough verification and validation.
- Collaborate with value engineering and CAD teams to develop accurate 3D models.
- Utilize SAP or other ERP systems for BOM creation and managing engineering changes.
- Follow established product development processes and ensure compliance throughout the design lifecycle.
- Coordinate with project leads, design teams, and overseas clients to understand requirements and guide execution.
- Ensure timely and high-quality release of mechanical design documentation.
- Liaise with production teams to implement necessary product changes efficiently.
- Travel onsite for prototype testing and coordination when required.
- Provide training and technical mentorship to junior team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
What we look for
Required
- B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in mechanical system design and development, specifically in HVAC products such as AHUs, Terminal Units, and Fans.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, product development processes, and engineering documentation.
- Hands-on experience with 3D modeling and design automation using Autodesk Inventor, including Inventor iLogic for rule-based design.
- Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP for BOM creation and engineering change management.
- Exposure to project management techniques and ability to manage timelines, risks, and deliverables.
- Knowledge of sheet metal part and assembly modelling.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional and global teams.
Preferred
Knowledge of HVAC equipment’s like Air Handling Units, Terminal Units, Fans, Dampers etc.
Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, Psychometrics, Thermodynamics and Refrigeration Cycles, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Systems and Components (compressors, heat exchangers,  fans and blowers, refrigerants, , construction materials, safety devices, etc.), HVAC&R Design.
Knowledge of DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
