Job Title: Materials Supervisor
Location: Jabil Memphis
The Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Purchasing and Planning functions within the site, serving as the escalation point for a team of materials professionals. This role does not include warehouse or inventory control responsibilities. The Supervisor will lead problem-solving efforts, make strategic decisions, manage budget approvals, and collaborate cross-functionally with Inventory Control (IC), Business Units (BU), and Supply Chain (SC) teams.
What can you expect to do?
- Supervise and support two direct reports.
- Serve as the escalation point for purchasing and planning issues, including material shortages and production schedule risks.
- Approve SAP-related requests including role assignments, appeals, and purchase order (PO) values.
- Oversee and re-evaluate min/max levels for bulk materials, ensuring production schedules do not exceed variance.
- Present planning and purchasing metrics to Business Units and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with IC, BU, and SC teams to align on operational goals and resolve escalations.
- Lead strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects to improve materials performance and cost efficiency.
- Support budgetary oversight and approval processes for purchasing activities.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What is the experience needed to be successful in this role?
- Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations.
- Proficiency in SAP and materials planning systems.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, with experience in business analytics and cost reduction strategies.
- Proven ability to lead change management initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Advanced PC skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Logistics Management, Business Administration, or equivalent preferred but not required.
- 5 years of related materials experience in a manufacturing environment, including purchasing and planning experience.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
