Job Description:

Perform a variety of scheduling and expediting duties related to material requirements planning.  Determines the resources necessary to ensure an uninterrupted supply to support production and sales.  Primarily concerned with raw material or finished/fabricated parts required in accordance with manufacturing schedules.

Key Responsibilities/Complexities:

  • Analyze master schedule of long-range projections for completion and delivery targets of finished product; assist in determining the target date for receipt of materials required.
  • Utilize system to project requirements planning; analyze stock, units on order, future requirements and other production related data; assist in making recommendations for project requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining just-in-time inventory.   
  • Initiate purchase and shop orders to obtain material in accordance with schedule requirements; assist with evaluating and determining alternate methods of meeting requirements with optimum cost and availability.    
  • Collaborate with other departments to determine disposition of materials and expedite flow of materials as needed; work with engineering in substitution of materials as required.
  • Partner with suppliers to coordinate, expedite or change delivery schedules.
  • Review overdue service orders, assist in determining the cause of delay and initiating corrective action.

Competencies:

  • Ensures that materials are cost-effective. 
  • Assists in determining and ensuring the quality of materials. 
  • Monitors inventory levels and coordinates with purchasing to maintain adequate levels of parts and raw materials to manufacture the product. 
  • Works to resolve materials issues while achieving and maintaining inventory business metrics. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Supervisory Responsibility:

Reports to varies by location; this role has no direct reports or supervisory responsibility . 

Work Environment:

This is an office position associated with a manufacturing facility.  Although the employee may spend a portion of his/her time in the office area, the employee’s essential job duties also require the employee to spend a portion of his/her time in the manufacturing area.  The employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by the employer when in the manufacturing area.

Physical Demands:

The employee may be required to stand, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and greater than 50 pounds with assistance. Mental and visual attention is necessary to perform various duties requiring constant alertness and activity.

Safety:

All safety regulations must be observed.

Position Type:

This is a regular, full-time position with frequent overtime.  Must be able, available and willing to work more than 40 hours per week, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime. 

Travel:

Occasional travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent  Typically has 0-2 years of experience in material planning

Other Duties:

Perform various other similar or associated duties as assigned or directed.
