Department Description
We have a well-established global Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) team, which supports the firm on a wide range of business development, marketing and client relationship management activities. The team is divided into several key areas: including practice M&BD, clients and sectors, pitches and pursuits, which manage strategic global and regional pitches; corporate communications, which comprises public relations, brand, design, events, and digital; and campaigns and projects.
Role Overview
We need a capable and enthusiastic coordinator to support the M&BD team in BD and marketing activities for the Corporate & Finance practice - a broad remit across some fast-paced and interesting areas of law.
The role will encompass a range of business development and marketing activities for the Corporate & Finance practice, working collaboratively with the firm's industry sector groups, including: pitching and credentials; client targeting and cross-selling; client/sector and competitor analysis; profile raising and marketing campaigns including communications such as directory submissions, online content (intranet, hoganlovells.com etc), and BD evaluation and reporting, as well as some administrative tasks to support the team.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Pitches & Credentials
Assist with the coordination of pitch responses, credentials statements and CVs ensuring best practice methodology is applied.
Prepare input to firm-wide pitches and assist colleagues in other offices with their pitches in these practice areas.
Assist in providing and producing background research, strategy, client briefings and competitor analysis documents in preparation for pitches and other client meetings.
Issue Pitch Alerts and provide input to the firm-wide pitch management system.
Knowledge Management
Maintain key M&BD resources including on the global intranet, hoganlovells.com, master credentials documents and practice and industry specific CVs.
Support to update and maintain the internal deals database.
Produce internal communications including electronic newsletters.
Support lawyers in maintaining their CVs and in tailoring them for specific pitches and industry sectors.
Encourage full and effective use of the firm's CRM database (InterAction) and experience database (Foundation).
Profile Raising and Marketing Campaigns
Coordinate and support on client events/seminars including preparing targeted mailing lists and liaising with other internal stakeholders including the events, IT, AV and other various internal teams.
Contribute to the drafting, review, collation and updating of practice area entries in legal directories, award submissions and league tables.
Liaise with the firm’s design agency using their online portal to create various internal and external facing marketing materials and collateral.
Prepare the production and uploading of client alerts on our Engage platform, liaising with the authors, the Engage team and other internal stakeholders.
Assist the Corporate & Finance M&BD team and central PR team on effective profile-raising plans and campaigns for the practice, working collaboratively with the firm's industry sector groups.
Assist the Corporate & Finance M&BD team in thought leadership campaigns, aligned with the firm's industry sectors.
Assist the Corporate & Finance M&BD team on effective profile raising through social media activity.
Wider BD Initiatives and Administrative Tasks
Support the Corporate & Finance Leadership team and M&BD team with meeting planning and administrative support, including preparation of internal reports.
Contribute to the wider M&BD effort, which will include participating in specific firm-wide M&BD initiatives and projects, as required.
Deal with ad hoc enquiries about the practice areas or its clients from other parts of the firm or members of the M&BD team.
Any other tasks that may reasonably be required.
Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential
Previous experience working in a business development/marketing environment.
A general understanding of marketing and business development processes.
Ability to create a positive impact with colleagues, peers, partners and clients and to demonstrate diplomacy, listening and influencing skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to write compelling propositions.
Demonstrates creativity and an eye for design with the ability to create impactful presentations and marketing materials.
Effective project management skills including the ability to plan ahead and prioritise conflicting demands to meet deadlines for the team.
Demonstrates an understanding of the firm's business and marketplace.
Experience in, and comfortable with, working in a partnership or equivalent professional services environment.
Proficient across MS Office including PowerPoint.
Desired
Prior knowledge and experience of working in a law firm and/or in a Corporate and/or Finance practice role would be advantageous.
A general understanding of the legal market (in terms of key players and product areas) to aid familiarity with terminology and to add as much value as possible when talking with partners.
A relevant marketing or sales qualification, such as the CIM or equivalent.
