Position Summary:

The role is situated in the Brisbane / Drug Substance Division, one of the five divisions within the Pharma Services Group. Brisbane specializes in GMP manufacturing and commercializing large molecule biologics, applying established manufacturing techniques. This enables us to cater to the requirements of our clients in the global BioPharma sectors. To assist the rapid growth of the Brisbane site, a position has been introduced to support the balanced development of the Operations group. In this role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your developing leadership talent as the team scope expands from the current media and buffer prep team to the MSS team. The focus of this team will be to support Operations on this growth trajectory by providing support in these key areas: operations logistics planning and coordination, bulk media and buffer preparation, and facility cleaning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the MSS team that aids the OPS group with logistics coordination, expertly developing media and buffer solutions, and strategizing facility cleaning.
  • Develop and nurture a successful team through strong mentorship and leadership.
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude to identify and overcome practical problems, ensuring sustained improvement in key performance indicators.
  • Partner with the Quality Department to maintain the lifecycle of all quality documents and records, including sign-off on completed batch records.
  • Adhere to the Patheon cGMP Quality Management System and the Patheon EH&S requirements.
  • Support team SMEs in troubleshooting, implementing new technologies/equipment/process improvements, and training co-workers.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment by adhering to OHS policies and procedures.

Skills and experience:

  • Tertiary education in a science or engineering-based field (i.e. biopharmaceutical manufacture, biotechnology, process technology).
  • 4 years of proven experience, preferably in a GMP logistics/manufacturing environment with sound knowledge of GMP/GLP regulations.
  • Science experience related to the pharmaceutical industry is helpful but not required.
  • Proven strong leadership skills to build effective teams. Strong organisational, scheduling, and planning skills. Ability to work unsupervised. Good communication, flexibility, reliability, and assertiveness. Responsible and proactive.
