Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

At KLA we design, develop, and manufacture high-tech equipment and products for the global semiconductor industry. In this role you’ll be working as part of a newly established manufacturing team involved in building and assembling our wafer sensor products.

Based at our brand-new manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales this role presents the opportunity to work with innovative technology and be involved in small-scale, precision manufacturing processes!

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Manual soldering and wire bonding small electronic components (using a microscope) onto Printed Circuit Board or flex circuit (resistors, capacitors, dies).
  • Handling and attaching small components (die, capacitors, resistors) using tweezers and in house build fixtures.
  • Mixing compounds to perform manual coating, bonding & encapsulation processes on silicon wafers.
  • Visual inspection using a microscope (20x magnification) for dies, resistors, capacitors to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Attach small components onto wafer or flex circuit.
  • Operating fixturing/tooling or hand-held electronic equipment (Voltmeter, Caliper, Oscilloscope) to test cable assembly or electronic assembly boxes.
  • Handling dilute chemical solutions (IPA, DI water, Acetone, epoxy) to clean products.

We’re especially interested in candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Electronic and mechanical assembly of small devices. 
  • Soldering and assembling small electronic components (die, capacitors, resistors)
  • Handling small-scale components using precision hand tools and microscopes
  • Experience in manufacturing or precision manufacturing environments
  • Applying conformal coating and potting materials
  • Quality inspection

This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday. There may occasionally be the need to work on a shift basis due to business requirements.
