ROLE SUMMARY

Resource Demand Manager provides operational resource support to functional line(s) within the R&D division ensuring resource requirements in support of the Research, Development and Commercial portfolios are properly planned and understood to facilitate informed decision-making and allocation of resources based on business priorities. Contributes to the achievement of business strategies and goals by partnering with applicable business SMEs across key stakeholder groups to enable and enhance operational performance through effective forecasting, planning management of organizational resources, the development of tools and processes to effectively assess resources, both internal and external through Functional Service Providers.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports functional lines with mix of fixed and variable headcount, 1000 resources across several resource work types and high algorithm complexity.

  • Ensures potential resource capacity issues (shortfalls) are surfaced and discussed in a timely fashion.

  • Derive demand forecasts utilizing the Planisware enterprise portfolio project management system; create variance and trend analyses.

  • Manages resource and cost assessments related to internal Pfizer portfolio optimization opportunities (e.g., project accelerations, PSI buy-ups, etc.) for supported Functional Lines

  • Partners with senior leaders and Resourcing Business Partners to ensure organizational resources are optimized and appropriately aligned to business priorities across the business functional areas.

  • Innovate new strategies and tools such as dashboards, metrics and KPI’s.

  • Utilizes business-specific portfolio and project information to facilitate portfolio and resource planning reviews and deliver the Annual Operating Plan.

  • Produce business performance dashboards and key metrics utilizing advanced visualizations and appropriate communications that effectively illustrate data trends

  • Supports multiple aspects of resource and clinical development cost management including data transformation, analysis, and reporting

  • Supports the development, maintenance and analysis of clinical trial cost and resource metrics to increase accuracy in assumptions in planning.

  • Support the delivery of holistic view of resource capacity and allocation across business functional areas.

  • Reinforces the value of the FTE Tracking (Activity Tracker), CRIS (Capacity Resource Information System) and Resource Planning & Forecasting (RAPID) programs for the business.

  • Proactively surfaces potential resource and cost related issues to key stakeholders and recommends go forward actions / sourcing solutions.

  • Supports the partnership with Finance to coordinate the development of the annual operating budget build.

  • Partners with subject matter experts in business lines on the design, development, and maintenance of resource estimating assumptions (algorithms), drivers, and templates for use in generating algorithmically derived demand forecasts utilizing the PLW enterprise portfolio project management system.

  • Innovate new strategies and tools such as dashboards, metrics and KPI’s

  • Supports high-impact cross functional special projects that improve our business in the short and long term.

  • For certain functional areas support the assessment of quarterly Functional Service Provider (FSP) Resource Demand Plan keying on relevant business drivers to justify resource projections, summarize changes, performs and delivers analyses summarizing forecast changes and communicates to finance and budgetary stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, scientific or technical focus preferred, and minimum 4+ years of relevant experience (R&D operational strategy and finance a plus) or Master's degree with 3+ years related experience with ability to translate complex business questions and requirements and develop effective solutions

  • Business experience and understanding of processes associated with operational aspects of clinical development

  • Expert in Excel, SQL, XML, dashboard tools (PowerBI, Spotfire, Tableau). Strong working knowledge Planisware, Business Objects and SaaS systems. Planisware certification is a plus.

  • Expertise in resource algorithm design and development

  • Ability to translate complex business questions and requirements and develop effective solutions

  • Ability to synthesize detailed information from multiple, disparate sources, understand the underlying data and be able to interpret and articulate key takeaways to executive leadership

  • Versed in data analytics, predictive modelling, AI capabilities, and able to build dashboards and reporting tools

  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinker, collaborator and effective communicator

  • Drive for results; planning; managing and measuring work

  • Comfortable multi-tasking; prioritizing and balancing heavy workloads
