Job Description
The Reliability Engineering Manager is the lead of a cross functional team of reliability engineers at the Wilson, NC site that is responsible for improving the reliability of high-speed packaging equipment for the site. The Manager is responsible for directing the Reliability Engineering team activities including proactively identifying equipment issues, implementing optimization projects, project prioritization, execution of the RBAM process, maintaining all aspects of the equipment to maximize uptime, and supporting new production equipment installation activities. This will require expertise in data analysis, selection and application of reliability tools, field execution, as well as close collaboration with other teams at the site to achieve reliability performance targets.
As part of our manufactory division's Wilson Reliability Engineering team, the position is responsible for providing day-to-day tactical and strategic direction to the Reliability team, ensuring that business objectives are met, and that a high standard for Quality and EHS compliance is maintained. The position will also be expected to provide development and evaluation for the team, promote continuous improvement, and ensure a positive work environment and culture is maintained within the team.
Primary Activities
Leadership
Utilize independent judgment and decision-making to direct Reliability Engineering activities within the Wilson site.
Provide technical support to packaging and manufacturing operations as needed to resolve processing problems for in-line products.
Resolve and escalate issues impacting production operations within the daily, weekly, and monthly tier management processes.
Responsible for directing the Reliability Engineering team to provide technical support to the site to improve equipment performance, compliance and effectiveness including optimization project management, ongoing monitoring of performance (OEE) and leading targeted performance improvement initiatives.
Staff and allocate resources to ensure critical business needs are met across multiple shifts.
Ensure that all assigned actions are completed within due date.
Provide effective leadership to the Production Maintenance team including coaching, employee development, and performance management.
Ensure that a positive work environment and culture is maintained within the team.
Develop and implement technical capability plan to ensure the right skills are present across all shifts and teams.
Strong communication to advocate for reliability within compliance and dynamic production needs
Works closely with Maintenance managers to identify training gaps for personnel and put plans in place to correct
Represent site interests and needs when working with above site teams
Makes decisions – guided by policies, procedures, and guidelines– that impact the team’s ability to meet performance objectives and departmental metrics
Able to make decisions rapidly in high stress situations while under duress
Technical
Coach team to perform root cause failure analysis on packaging equipment failures and develop strategies to prevent recurrence
Analyze calibration, maintenance, and equipment performance and work orders to identify trends with an emphasis on reducing reactive work and increasing reliability
Field application of reliability tools and principles to ensure that packaging equipment operates in compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
Ownership of Risk Based Asset Management process to maintain performance of operating assets
Responsible for identifying and applying creative/technical solutions aimed at cost reduction, improved yields and quality of products and/or facilities which meet all regulatory requirements
Develops and monitors the equipment reliability metrics; investigates variance from targets and implements action items to improve performance
Ensure team executes activities to meet production targets, product and maintenance cost reduction targets
Develops and executes strategy to support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for new and modified equipment installations to ensure equipment reliability requirements are met. (including PM/Calibration development and spare parts management)
Lead team through all aspects of process change control related to reliability improvements (evaluation, approval, communication, planning scheduling, validation and project documentation, auditing, training, implementation)
Support safety programs (LOTO, HECP, etc.) and environmental compliance
Identifies equipment specific training that is needed
Education Minimum Requirement
Required Experience and Skills
Minimum of five years expertise in packaging, industrial manufacturing, maintenance, industrial engineering and/or reliability engineering
Demonstrated proficiency with Reliability analysis tools such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis, Criticality Analysis, Pareto Analysis, and other reliability tools
Analytical and problems solving skills with electrical, automation and/or mechanical equipment and their use within a manufacturing process
Demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to coach, influence and support others through a culture of inclusion, feedback and empowerment
Demonstrated ability to motivate teams to achieve stretch goals
Willing to work irregular hours to support multi-shift operation on an as needed basis
Preferred Experience and Skills
Experience managing computerized maintenance management systems (SAP or similar)
Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience with technical writing
Excellent analytical and decision making skills
Experience in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, problem solving, and/or right first time methodologies
Familiarity with change execution management and behavioral coaching / consequence management tools
Experience supporting regulatory inspections (FDA or other international agencies)

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The salary range for this role is
$104,200.00 - $163,900.00This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
