The Manager, GAM Financial Control, will be a critical member of the team’s growth. You will be a leading part of the team that ensures appropriate controls, processes, and governance framework are in place to support the completeness and accuracy of the Financial Statements and provide interpretation on accounting standards, guidance, and advice on transactions as they arise.

What will you do?

  • Assessing the accounting implications of new products and initiatives to enable business partners to make sound decisions. Help team to assess and implement new accounting standards and policies.
  • Support the GAM Financial Control team by ensuring business results are accurately reflected in the financial systems on a timely basis, while ensuring the completeness & accuracy of the results in PeopleSoft and EPM.
  • Reviewing monthly actual results and variance analysis. Review quarterly financial disclosures and related variance analysis. Assist in the investigation of financial results abnormalities.
  • Perform timely Balance Sheet reconciliations and attestations, including review of Standard of Documentation (SODs). Perform and update SOX controls, working with both internal and external auditors.
  • Critically involved in the execution of automation projects to reduce the amount of manual and repetitive work performed by the team.
  • Assessing financial risk and establish proper infrastructure & processes to ensure financial results are reported completely and accurately and risks are adequately managed.
  • Assist with a number of data strategy projects and ad hoc initiatives to enhance the transparency and accuracy of the data.

What you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • 4+ years working experience, ideally with an audit firm or financial institution
  • CPA, CA or equivalent. This mandate is highly dependent on using analytical and financial reporting skills commonly associated with accounting designations
  • Strong IFRS working knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to collaborate and obtain buy-ins from multiple stakeholders
  • Knowledge of retail banking products or willingness and interest in developing that knowledge
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet with multiple deliverables within a tight timeline
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills
  • Strong team building skills and work ethic

Nice to Have

  • Financial Services industry experience with knowledge of the asset management industry.
  • PeopleSoft and EPM (IBM TM1) experience.
  • Knowledge of Data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Proficiency in automation tools or technologies (RPA, VBA, SQL, Python, or JavaScript).
