Position Summary:
The Manager, Business Development is a strategic individual contributor responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing partnership opportunities aligned with business goals. The role leads cross-functional efforts through the deal lifecycle, including opportunity assessment, business case development, and transaction execution, with a focus on informatics and software-driven partnerships. This individual plays a key role in translating market signals into actionable deals, contributing to the long-term growth strategy.
*This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, with an expectation of 2–3 in-office days per week and additional on-site presence as needed. The individual must reside in the San Diego area and be able to commute to our corporate offices.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end deal execution for multiple simultaneous opportunities, from sourcing and due diligence through negotiation and transaction close.
Develop strategic rationale and business cases for partnership opportunities in collaboration with stakeholders across Marketing, Product Development, Commercial, Regulatory, Quality, and Finance.
Coordinate and track progress of Software & Informatics deal flow, including preparing updates and summaries for internal business development and cross-functional reviews.
Maintain up-to-date insights on relevant market activity by monitoring industry news, events, and press releases; prepare strategic overviews of key companies of interest.
Support negotiation of deal terms and work cross-functionally with Legal and Finance to assess risks, establish governance structures, and define success metrics.
Build and maintain strong internal relationships across departments to ensure alignment and execution readiness.
Contribute to process improvements and documentation of best practices to enhance partnership workflows.
Proactively identify opportunities for professional development and support the advancement of internal capabilities through training, mentorship, or participation in strategic initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience in business development, partnerships, or strategic alliances within life sciences, healthcare, or related industries.
Requires at least 1 year experience with: Strategy; Process Improvement; Relationship Management; Financial Modeling & Analysis; and Market Research & Opportunity Assessment.
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to lead business development projects or initiatives in a matrixed environment.
Strong analytical capabilities, including financial modeling and market opportunity assessment.
Effective communicator with the ability to present recommendations and influence stakeholders.
Experience in process improvement, strategic planning, and relationship management.
Proactive, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Adaptability and critical thinking in fast-paced, evolving business environments.

The estimated base salary range for the Manager, Business Development (San Diego/Hybrid) role based in the United States of America is: $126,800 - $190,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
