Maintenance Technician

This role will be accountable for rebuilding, overhauling, inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing problems on all industrial and facility related equipment. Position will support assigned shift but must also having willingness to work flexible hours when business needs dictate.

GENERAL RESPONISIBILITIES: 

  • Advanced troubleshooting and repair of problems on all industrial production and some facility related equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand and troubleshoot equipment using schematics, prints, and electrical diagrams.
  • Perform PM inspections on all industrial production and building related equipment.
  • Records repairs, preventative maintenance tasks, work orders and other related tasks.
  • Rebuilds, overhauls, and repairs automated CNC machine tools, aligns and makes precision adjustments to insure accurate machine operation.
  • Hazardous waste disposal, with proper training and equipment.
  • Execute general maintenance work orders.
  • Work directly with and provide support to outside contractor resources.
  • Performs housekeeping and 5S to keep the department clean, and well organized.
  • Research and develop procedures and generate documentation when faced with new equipment installations or unique events that requires use of appropriate hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 7 years of experience with Industrial Automated Systems Maintenance, Metal Fabrication Equipment Maintenance, Equipment Repair and Maintenance.
  • OR
  • 2-year technical school degree from an accredited school with a certificate in one of the following trades: Industrial Maintenance, Automated Industrial Systems, Industrial pneumatic/electronic controls, HVAC, plumbing, electricity, welding, fluid power, or mechanics.
  • 5 years of experience with Industrial Automated Systems Maintenance, Metal Fabrication Equipment Maintenance, Equipment Repair and Maintenance.
  • And
  • If necessary, have the ability to attend and successfully complete formal training on automated equipment and/or facilities related tools and automated equipment (CNC lathes and mills)
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced experience and excellent understanding of mechanical maintenance setting.
  • Extensive experience in repairing and troubleshooting the following machines: CNC Lathes and Vertical Mills, Robotic Welders, Rotomold, Powered Industrial Trucks, Laser Cutting Machines (Mitsubishi, Trumpf, Mazak), manual welders, and Paint line equipment.
  • Special Engineer State of Minnesota Low Pressure Boiler License.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong communication skills, ability to interpret oral, written instructions for work direction. 
  • Capable of working with equipment operators to determine the nature and extent of mechanical problems and failures.
  • Must be able to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Print reading and experience with electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Must be self-directed, able to work independently and in a group environment.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Willing to mentor/train fellow employees with less experience or subject knowledge.
  • Ability to adhere to safety regulations and follow safety guidelines.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent use of ladders, personal lifts at heights of up to 35 feet, and operation of various maintenance shop tools and equipment.
  • Lifting of supplies, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be comfortable working in tight spaces to perform maintenance tasks.

  • Advanced ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations.
  • Ability to work as a team member.

The starting pay range for California is $24.04 to $31.73 per hour, plus eligibility for overtime.  Individual pay and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.  While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
