This role is aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions (“Diamond Infra”) company and will be seconded from Dow to Diamond Infrastructure Solutions until January 1, 2027.  At that time, the role will become directly aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions Company.

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician-Millwright in Plaquemine, Louisiana!

About you and this role:

As the Maintenance Technician-Millwright, you would provide maintenance craft-specific support to plants. You would maintain and repair all types of equipment with craft knowledge and expertise. This role requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. You may act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and corrects equipment problems.

  • Calibrates and aligns equipment.

  • Completes preventative maintenance activities.

  • Checks sizing of components and parts.

  • Specifies, requisitions, and installs parts and equipment.

  • Coordinates maintenance spare parts.

  • Assists in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance through planner, work coordinator and operations input.

  • Sets up and calibrates, tests, measures, and repairs all types of controls and instruments with pneumatic, electrical, and electronic variables.

  • Repairs, maintains, and installs equipment and machinery which is used in the process.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions and documents failure analysis.

  • Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.

  • Works within established Maintenance Work Processes and helps resolve issues that surface as a result of planning and scheduling work.

  • Works to repair a variety of processes and rotating equipment used in industrial processing. The mechanical equipment may include ANSI pumps, various types of compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, turbines and generators.

  • This job requires hands-on fieldwork to determine the cause of equipment failure, locate spare parts, and install spare parts using repair procedures and machinist techniques for alignment.

  • Utilize functional, and technical knowledge, company standards, and educational background or experience to analyze and solve problems.

  • Effectively working and maintaining relationships with the Natural Work Teams and key stakeholders with diverse perspectives and backgrounds is essential including Engineers, Operations personnel, and co-workers to identify and resolve technical issues.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED and one or more of the following: 

    • 2 year degree in a Mechanical related field.

    • NCCER certified as a Millwright (NCCER Certification obtained through an Instructor Led Training Program is a preference).

    • In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with 3 or more years of relevant military experience. 

    • 5 or more years of experience in an industrial environment as a Millwright/Mechanic. 

  • Current, valid US driver's license.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Optic and/or Laser alignment techniques.

  • Familiarity with Turbines, Compressors, Generators, Fans, Pumps and Gearboxes.

  • SAP Knowledge.

Your skills

  • Equipment Diagnosis and Repair - Ability to diagnose and correct equipment problems, ensuring smooth operation and minimizing downtime.

  • Calibration and Alignment - Proficiency in calibrating and aligning equipment to maintain optimal performance.

  • Preventative Maintenance - Experience in completing preventative maintenance activities to prevent equipment failures and extend the lifespan of machinery.

  • Technical Knowledge - Utilization of functional and technical knowledge, company standards, and educational background to analyze and solve problems effectively.

  • Mechanical Skills - Expertise in repairing, maintaining, and installing various types of equipment and machinery used in industrial processes, including pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, turbines, and generators.

  • Troubleshooting - Ability to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions, document failure analysis, and collect equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.

  • Collaboration and Communication - Effective working and maintaining relationships with Natural Work Teams and key stakeholders, including engineers, operations personnel, and co-workers, to identify and resolve technical issues.

Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.

  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.

  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.

  • Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.

  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.  Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
