SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Maintenance Supervisor will assist in the supervision and leadership of the employees in the maintenance department subject to the approval and direction of the Maintenance Manager. May also be assigned other work normally performed by a Maintenance Technician.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures compliance with company safety standards and state and federal safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules.

• Responsible for supervision of Maintenance Technicians.

• Assist the Maintenance Manager in the development and implementation of maintenance training modules for sanitary dairy equipment. Assist in the assignment of maintenance personnel to specific jobs in relation to their skills.

• Monitor progress of maintenance personnel on assigned tasks and report any deviations to the Maintenance Manager.

• Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety related systems.

• Responsible for maintaining and repairing all production equipment: pumps, pasteurizers, evaporators, dryer, valves, packaging equipment, etc.

• Responsible for maintaining and repairing all support equipment: boilers, air compressors, glycol chillers, HVAC systems, condensers, vacuum pumps, wastewater meters, conductivity meters, water meters, etc.

• Oversee the handling of chemicals for support equipment operation. Chemical testing of boiler feed water, condensate, cooling tower water, food-grade glycol, and plant process water.

• Oversee the fabrication and manufacturing of equipment for production needs: product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, pneumatic lines, etc.

• Assist with the maintenance of all drawings, programs and technical documentation to keep plant records current.

• Responsible for reviewing and scheduling work orders and activity reports daily.

• Responsible for the supervision and training of staff to assure that all work is being done in a timely fashion and done properly.

• Report immediately to Manager of any damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions concerning the equipment.

• Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality food products that meet regulatory and company requirements.

• Responsible for care and maintenance of company tools.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Back up for the Maintenance Manager.

• On the Food Safety Team and Food Quality Team.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.

• College level verbal and written communication skills.

• Minimum three years of Maintenance Department Management, or Supervision experience, preferably in a dairy processing environment.

• Minimum seven years’ experience in a production maintenance role involving electronics, instrumentation, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical and food or dairy processes and equipment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Must possess or can acquire an Industrial Truck Operator License.
