Position Summary

Lead the maintenance department to ensure asset reliability in alignment with the company’s needs and business goals. This role is responsible for developing and aligning departmental KPIs, coordinating resources to achieve those goals, and leading the team with vision and accountability. The Maintenance Supervisor is expected to be hands-on, actively engaged with the team, and a key decision-maker in daily operations.

Responsibilities:

Team Development & Leadership

  • Responsible for assigning and coordinating maintenance activities, ensuring that work is effectively distributed across the team in alignment with departmental priorities and plan.

  • Oversee coordination of team schedules to ensure adequate coverage.

  • Oversee or facilitate the hiring, training, performance evaluation, and development of the maintenance team.

  • Set clear goals and provide direction to support achievement of departmental KPIs.

  • Actively work with the team on the floor to ensure visibility, engagement, and support.

  • Maintain regular touchpoints with all three shifts throughout the week to ensure consistent communication, feedback exchange, and alignment across the team.

  • Communicate regularly with cross-functional leaders to align priorities and share progress.

  • Provide leadership and support across all shifts, ensuring availability and responsiveness to team needs regardless of time of day.

  • Lead a team of 12 maintenance associates, including 1 maintenance planner/scheduler and 1 maintenance buyer/spare parts clerk.

Equipment and Facilities

  • Oversee the Predictive and Preventive Maintenance (PPM) program (currently in SAP).

  • Minimize customer impact from equipment breakdowns through urgent response and effective internal communication.

  • Participate in capital expenditure planning by identifying and proposing equipment and asset needs.

  • Coordinate and monitor work performed by outside contractors.

  • Responsible for maintenance operations across three facilities, including the main plant and two adjacent buildings located approximately 10 minutes away.

Technical Knowledge

  • Stay current with evolving technologies relevant to the industry.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of:

    • Electrical controls: PLCs, HMIs, motors, drives.

    • Industrial systems: HVAC, hydraulics, pneumatics.

  • Competent in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

  • Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints.

  • Must be available by phone to provide support or respond to emergencies as needed.

 Knowledge and skill requirements:

  • Experience leading teams, developing KPIs, coaching team members, and managing projects.

  • Background in manufacturing and maintenance operations.

  • Proven ability to supervise direct reports and drive team performance.

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor.
