The Maintenance Technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process equipment, utilities, and facilities within a chemical manufacturing plant. This position supports both maintenance and daily production operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. The role requires strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, knowledge of chemical process systems, and a hands-on approach to supporting production needs.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on pumps, mixers, valves, agitators, mechanical seals, compressors, and other process equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues.
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records in the system.
Assist in installation, alignment, and commissioning of new process equipment.
Support calibration and verification of instrumentation where applicable.
Assist operators in equipment startup, shutdown, and changeovers.
Support daily production activities by ensuring equipment is in safe and reliable working condition.
Perform minor process adjustments and monitor system performance during production.
Communicate equipment performance, abnormalities, and downtime causes to supervisors and operators.
Follow all EHS, OSHA, and chemical handling procedures.
Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) activities.
Ensure maintenance work complies with site permits, SOPs, and confined space requirements.
Report near-misses, unsafe conditions, and mechanical failures promptly.
Participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for recurring equipment issues.
Suggest and implement improvements to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
Assist in capital and reliability improvement projects.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical certificate or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred.
3–5 years of experience in maintenance or operations within a chemical, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
Familiarity with chemical process equipment, fluid handling systems, and mechanical seals.
Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP) preferred.
Strong mechanical and basic electrical aptitude.
Ability to read P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and wiring schematics.
Knowledge of pumps, agitators, motors, valves, piping, and control systems.
Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems is a plus.
Basic welding, fabrication, and pipefitting skills desirable.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work in industrial environments.
Willingness to work flexible shifts or respond to after-hours emergencies.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
