Library Project Manager

  • This is a full-time fixed term position through to January 2028 with salary in the range $102,565 - $111,686 (HEW 7), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.

  • Drive strategic change and service excellence across the UQ Library, leading initiatives that directly improve client experience and staff capacity.

  • You will be the steward of our project management framework, leading projects from scoping through to delivery and actively building project capability across the Library team.

  • Based at our St Lucia campus

About This Opportunity 

Join the UQ Library team as a collaborative and adaptable Project Manager. In this key role, you will lead, or coordinate projects aligned with the Library’s strategic priorities. You will also hold stewardship of the Library’s project management framework, working to continuously improve our practices and build organisational capability across the team.

Key responsibilities will include: 

Project Leadership and Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate all project activities, including developing project plans, negotiating scheduling, managing project documentation, and ensuring timely progress reporting. You will ensure all work aligns with University and Library policies and procedures.

Framework Stewardship and Capability Building

  • Take ownership of the Library’s project management framework, tools, processes, and reporting. You will drive a robust and consistent project culture and provide effective leadership, guidance, and coaching to project teams to improve project management capability across the library.

Collaboration and Outcome Delivery

  • Collaborate actively with project leads and team members to ensure the successful and timely completion of projects, adhering to agreed-upon specifications and resourcing. You will also contribute to identifying opportunities for continuous service improvements.

Evidence-Based Scoping and Stakeholder Liaison

  • Use principles of evidence-based practice to gather data from a range of sources and systems to inform project scoping, progress, and outcomes. You will also effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders to develop and support clear communication mechanisms throughout the project lifecycle.

About You  

  • Possess a degree and at least four years of subsequent relevant experience (or equivalent combination), with extensive experience and management expertise in business, librarianship, or project management. You have demonstrated ability to lead projects and deliver outcomes within specified deadlines.

  • You are skilled at applying analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly understand complex situations or problems and identify effective, potential solutions. You also understand the principles of evidence-based practice and can identify relevant data to inform project scoping and outcomes.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven emotional intelligence. You must be able to negotiate, consult, and effectively build relationships to engage with diverse groups both internal and external to the University.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise strong judgment, be flexible, and adapt quickly to environmental changes and priorities. You can effectively prioritise your workload, work independently, and are an excellent team player with a cooperative and inclusive mindset.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
