JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Legal Counsel II plays a key role in providing legal support across WANO's business. This role involves drafting and reviewing contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing legal risks, and supporting business negotiations. The Legal Counsel II works closely with senior legal professionals and cross-functional teams to provide sound legal advice and mitigate potential risks.
YOUR ROLE AS A:
Legal Counsel II
WHAT YOU’LL CHAMPION:
Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on a broad range of issues, including corporate, commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters.
Identify and mitigate legal risks, ensuring alignment with local and international laws and regulations.
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance with aviation, data privacy, and corporate governance requirements.
Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, including commercial agreements, partnership agreements, vendor contracts, and service-level agreements.
Ensure contract terms protect the company’s legal and financial interests.
Collaborate with business units to structure legally sound commercial transactions.
Support regulatory compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to Bank Negara Malaysia, MAVCOM, Bursa Malaysia, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
Assist in developing and maintaining corporate governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
Provide training and guidance to business teams on legal and regulatory requirements.
Assist in managing disputes, litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.
Liaise with external legal counsel and internal teams to develop litigation strategies.
Support dispute resolution efforts to minimize legal and financial risks.
Work closely with senior legal team members to support key business initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide legal insights on commercial and operational matters.
Maintain strong relationships with external legal advisors, regulators, and industry partners.
WHO YOU ARE:
LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) from a recognized university; admission to the Malaysian Bar or equivalent qualification is required.
5+ years of legal experience, preferably in a corporate, aviation, fintech, or regulated industry.
Strong understanding of contract law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving business needs.
