Learning Designer (Hybrid)

As a member of the Human Resources team, your primary function will be to create effective, engaging, and accessible learning experiences and manage end-to-end learning design projects, from analysis to implementation and evaluation. This involves applying principles of instructional design, educational psychology, and technology to support learners in achieving specific outcomes.

This role is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of learning content at TRIUMF supporting technical, safety, and behavioural needs.  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Curriculum and Instructional Design

  • Conducting needs assessments to identify learning gaps and recommend effective solutions
  • Develop learning objectives aligned with organizational or educational goals.
  • Design course structures, lesson plans, and assessments.
  • Select appropriate instructional strategies (e.g., active learning, blended learning).

2. Content Development

  • Create or curate multimedia learning materials (videos, readings, simulations).
  • Ensure content is inclusive, accessible, and pedagogically sound.

3. Technology Integration

  • Use learning management systems (LMS) and authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Adobe Captivate).
  • Incorporate interactive elements like quizzes, discussion forums, and gamification.
  • Promoting use of learning resources and tools 

4. Learner Experience Design

  • Focus on user-centered design to enhance engagement and retention.
  • Apply UX principles to digital learning environments.

5. Evaluation and Improvement

  • Analyze learner feedback and performance data.
  • Revise and improve learning experiences based on evidence.

6. Collaboration

  • Partnering with internal experts to design and develop engaging, learner-focused content
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs), instructors, and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops or training sessions for educators or trainers.
  • They stay on top of current trends and technologies in their field and apply these in their work. 
  • Translating complex information into accessible, outcome-driven learning experiences
  • Coordinating logistics and supporting delivery of learning workshops and online events
  • Continuously evaluating and refining learning experiences to ensure effectiveness and impact

Education & Certifications:

  • A degree in Education, Sociology, Human Behaviour, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Additional adult learning certificate, CTP, CTDP or other instructional designation is an asset.

Skills & Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience designing and developing learning content for adults, preferably in a large organizational setting
  • Proven ability to apply adult learning principles to various delivery formats
  • Requires a broad range of experience and knowledge in the field of adult learning and/or coaching.
  • Hands-on experience with LMS platforms such as Workday
  • High level of proficiency with e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate 360 and Adobe Captivate
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp eye for detail
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with a focus on outcomes, ownership, and accountability
  • Knowledge of project management practices is an asset

Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).

Salary: $74,630 per annum plus our comprehensive employer-paid benefits and pension plan.
