Baker Hughes has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Proposals Specialist to join our FPS Offshore Commercial Operations team in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
This is a great opportunity to work in a fast-moving tendering environment and be responsible for preparing proposals and winning deals with key customers.
The successful candidate will review documentation, coordinate the bid process, collate internal departmental input/reviews, prepare costing and proposals documentation, and be responsible for bid submission.
As a Lead Proposals Specialist, you will be responsible for:
Reviewing customer documentation to extract and understand technical and commercial requirements.
Distributing internal RFQ packages to relevant engineering and commercial teams.
Coordinating the bidding process across departments to ensure timely and accurate proposal development.
Chairing risk assessment meetings and capture critical feedback for inclusion in bid strategies.
Preparing detailed cost estimates aligned with customer specifications and project scope.
Collaborating with regional teams and commercial managers to define competitive pricing levels.
Contributing to the Deal Review approval process, ensuring alignment across technical and financial inputs.
Developing and submitting proposal documentation in accordance with customer deadlines.
Managing customer clarifications and ensure timely, accurate responses during the proposal phase.
Coordinating all follow-up activities leading to successful contract award.
Reviewing Letters of Intent (LOI) and Purchase Orders (PO) to ensure alignment with the bid scope.
Preparing comprehensive handover documentation for seamless transition to the project delivery team.

To be successful in this role you will:
Have Extensive experience in proposals, commercial operations, or technical sales within energy or engineering sectors.
Have a Strong understanding of RFQ processes, bid coordination, and proposal lifecycle management.
Be able to review customer documentation and extract technical and commercial requirements.
Be skilled in costing, pricing strategy, and preparing detailed cost models aligned with customer specifications.
Have experience leading risk assessments and contributing to deal review and approval processes.
Be an effective communicator with the ability to present bid strategies and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
Have a collaborative mindset with experience working across engineering, commercial, and regional teams.
Be proficient in tools such as Microsoft Office and proposal management systems (e.g., Salesforce, SAP).
