Position Summary
We are seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to drive the design and delivery of large-scale DSP and Reporting systems within the Samsung Ads Ad Solutions team. In this role, you will leverage Samsung’s proprietary datasets and advanced technologies to build scalable, data-intensive products that power campaign delivery, performance measurement, and reporting for global advertisers.
You’ll lead a talented team of engineers and collaborate closely with Product, Data, and Machine Learning teams to deliver impactful, production-grade solutions. This is a high-visibility role with direct influence on the evolution of Samsung’s advertising platform and its global business growth.
Role and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Lead a team of engineers to design, implement, and deploy production-grade DSP and reporting systems with measurable business impact.
- Architecture & Design: Define scalable, high-performance architectures for data pipelines, reporting APIs, and platform services.
- Cross-Functional & Cross-Site Collaboration: Partner with Product, Data, and ML teams across multiple global engineering sites (e.g., MTV, SRIB, SRPOL, HQ) to translate business goals into technical roadmaps, ensure architectural alignment, and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Data Engineering: Work with data engineering teams to develop and optimize large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and analytics pipelines.
- Product Reliability: Ensure platform reliability and operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and proactive system health checks.
- Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship and foster a culture of code quality, performance, and innovation.
- Rapid Prototyping: Develop quick prototypes and proofs of concept to validate new ideas and accelerate innovation.
- External Collaboration: Engage with technology partners and vendors to integrate advanced data and reporting tools into the Samsung Ads ecosystem.
Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications
- Master’s or PHD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience with a proven record of building and leading large-scale distributed systems (8+ years).
- Proficiency in GoLang required; Python and Java preferred; Scala nice to have.
- Strong experience with big data technologies such as Snowflake, Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
- Strong understanding of data modeling, distributed systems, and software engineering best practices.
- Working knowledge of statistical methods and data-driven performance analysis.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills with a track record of cross-functional and cross-site influence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or equivalent.
- Background in digital advertising, programmatic DSP systems, or real-time bidding (RTB) environments.
- Experience with streaming data systems such as Kafka, Flink, or Kinesis.
- Prior involvement in large-scale reporting, data warehousing, or ad measurement systems.

Compensation for this role, for candidates based in Mountain View, CA is expected to be between $190,000 ~ $215,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
