Job Description Summary
 

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in 3D design and medical device experience for our MR Coils Team in Bangalore. Engaging in all phases of hardware lifecycle management, design change & New Product Introduction: concept development, architecture documentation, design, prototype test, ATE development and testing, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support. The team in Bangalore is focused on IB and sustaining engineering activities for coils currently.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of working on projects from concept through to production, ensuring compliance with medical industry standards and regulations, and deliver mechanical solutions to our MRI coil products. The position has a strong focus on sustaining existing install base coils, supporting customers and factories for continuous improvement on safety, performance, and cost. Specifically, the role requires a focus on sustaining the installed base (IB) coils via support of coils transfers and localization along with supporting investigation and resolution of customer complaints on IB coils.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Utilize 3D design software to create detailed models and drawings

  • Release parts and share with production and/or suppliers

  • Testing and verifying hardware to ensure that they meet the specifications and requirements

  • Drive continuous improvement in mechanical engineering design and processes

  • Participate in development activities at supplier end e.g., tooling and ensure successful outcomes

  • Support periodic cost-out design activities, conduct qualification tests for Engineering-led changes as well as triggered by new suppliers

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project outcomes

  • Working cross functionally with Engineering teams to understand systems interactions and dependencies, account for these in the development plan

  • Understand key business drivers and adhere to GEHC standards, industry standards, Medical device safety, and regulatory requirements

  • Troubleshooting of coils, fixing customer complaints. Specifically, support investigation of complex and ambiguous problems. Perform troubleshooting (at bench level in the lab and system level) encompassing multiple variables for root cause analysis leading to problem resolution. Conduct experiments and diagnostic tests, as required, to draw conclusions and solutions.

  • Understanding Coil requirements, writing verification and validation plan, Conduct Qualification & Verification activities on an MRI system including relevant documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related degree with 5+ years of experience, or a Master's Degree with 3+ years of experience

  • Experience in mechanical product design, electronics packaging design, familiar with plastic, metal, injection moulding parts design and manufacturing process

  • Expertise with CAD software ability - Creo, SolidWorks, Ansys – Structural and Thermal (Desirable) analysis

  • Experience in Verification and Validation testing of Hardware products

  • Exposure to Medical device industry

  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills

Desired Characteristics

  • MS with 5+ years of experience in medical device field

  • Experience with product development cycle from concept leading to stable production

  • Experience with reliability testing and Design for Reliability tools

  • Demonstrated program/project planning capability

  • Demonstrated project leadership and influencing skills

  • Exposure to Medical device standards like IEC60601-1

  • Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
