Job Summary 

Lead Executive Protection Specialist plays a critical role in protecting the safety, security, and privacy of designated executives and high-profile individuals. As a key member of the Physical Security team, this position includes dedicated driving responsibilities and operates in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional discretion, professionalism, and situational awareness while ensuring seamless protection and support.

What you will do

  • Provides protective services to executive leadership during business travel and public appearances.
  • Conducts threat assessments and advance site visits to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to assess appropriate protective measures in executive travel/appearance schedules.
  • Ensures safe and discreet transportation for executives, including planning and executing secure travel routes and emergency contingencies.
  • Maintains vehicle readiness, including cleanliness, fueling, mechanical checks, and emergency supplies.
  • Monitors traffic, weather, and local events to anticipate and avoid disruptions.
  • Assists in monitoring and analyzing intelligence sources to identify threats and produce actionable briefs for leadership.
  • Supports policy development, logistics, emergency planning, and other duties as needed in support of Alliant Energy’s Values and help deliver on our purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal justice, Homeland Security, or related field | Preferred.
  • Executive Protection Certification (e.g., ASIS PSP or similar) | Preferred.
  • First Aid, CPR, and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) certification | Preferred.
  • Certification in defensive and evasive driving | Preferred.

Required Experience

  •  5 Years of experience in executive protection, law enforcement, military, or corporate security.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in preparing and delivering protective risk assessments for executive travel, corporate events, and high-risk environments.
  • Firearms training and/or eligibility to obtain firearms certification/permit.

Other Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel frequently (local, regional, potentially international) and work flexible hours in high-pressure environments.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, valid travel documentation to support potential international travel requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent judgment, discretion and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain constant situational awareness and adapt to evolving security conditions.
  • Proficiency with GPS, secure communications, and threat monitoring tools.
  • Strong knowledge of local geography and traffic patterns.

Pay Range:

$93,000-$128,000

This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
