About Giga

Giga builds the electrical infrastructure that powers the modern world. We manufacture transformers, switchboards, and modular data centers for customers across the United States and the globe. Together, our team combines fresh perspectives with deep industry experience to solve real-world problems for our customers. We move fast and think practically. If you're ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.

What You’ll Do

We’re hiring a Lead Engineering Technician to take ownership of the mechanical and electrical assembly processes that bring Giga’s products to life. You’ll lead a small team of skilled technicians responsible for assembling, testing, and refining complex mechanical and electrical systems—from prototype to production.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem solving on the floor, and can bridge the gap between engineering design and real-world execution. You’ll ensure builds follow design intent, quality standards, and regulatory compliance across every project.

Where You’ll Work

This role is 100% on-site at our manufacturing facility. You’ll work closely with our engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure each product meets Giga’s performance and reliability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 2–6 engineering technicians in day-to-day assembly and testing of switchboards and related systems
  • Interpret engineering prints, schematics, and SolidWorks models to guide accurate builds
  • Assemble and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical assemblies, ensuring each build meets design specifications
  • Identify when components require rework vs. modification, and communicate issues effectively with engineering
  • Collaborate with engineers to translate designs into scalable production processes
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area; ensure adherence to Giga’s quality and safety standards
  • Train and mentor technicians in best practices for assembly, measurement, and documentation
  • Participate in root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, and corrective action processes
  • Perform hands-on work that requires standing, lifting, and physical activity throughout the day

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience as an Engineering or Manufacturing Technician in a production or prototype environment
  • Proven ability to lead small teams (2–6 people) effectively in a manufacturing or engineering context
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies, schematics, and wiring
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and 3D CAD models (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience in assembly, fabrication, or machine shop environments
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to diagnose and communicate complex mechanical or electrical issues clearly
  • Comfortable working full-time on-site and performing physical tasks (standing, lifting, moving components)

Bonus Points

  • Experience working under regulated programs such as UL, FDA, or DOT
  • Prior experience in electrical infrastructure, switchboards, or industrial equipment manufacturing
  • Background in quality systems, testing, or inspection
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
  • Strong written documentation and training ability

Benefits

  • Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
