Job Summary

TYLin is looking for a lead engineering professional to join our dynamic Water team in Washington State. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for leading and growing the wastewater discipline in the Pacific Northwest. This includes technical leadership, project management, and business development for projects related to linear and facilities infrastructure management. Near-term opportunities include leading infrastructure and facilities planning and design, conducting technical studies, preparing engineering reports, providing program management services, and spearheading business and client development efforts.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:  

Technical Leadership 

  • Direct, supervise, and mentor team members to support the growth of staff. 
  • Oversee performance of design, providing technical peer to peer and QC reviews. 
  • Commit to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges. 

Project Management 

  • Work with senior management to develop and negotiate contract budgets and scopes of work. 
  • Manage the development of work plans, identifying staffing needs and training requirements. 
  • Lead project execution for successful delivery and client satisfaction, including financial management, resource management, change order management, and client invoicing. 
  • Provide leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams, including subconsultants, for simultaneous projects of varying complexities.  
  • Guide the team to establish consistency and quality assurance processes in the production of all deliverables and manage the quality control of all submission materials. 

Business Development 

  • Work with the Water Sector Manager to develop and execute a regional strategic plan. 
  • Build and maintain key relationships with clients (municipal agencies as well as industrial clients) and industry organizations to pursue opportunities and grow the business.  
  • Promote technical practices, innovation sharing and knowledge management.  
  • Participate in business development and identify and follow through on strategic opportunities. 
  • Lead marketing initiatives and pursuits, serving as champion for wastewater opportunities.  

 

WHAT YOU BRING:  

  • Demonstrated project delivery experience, including managing client expectations, technical teams, and project finances. 

  • In-depth knowledge of industry best practices and standards. 

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and technical writing skills with attention to detail. 

  • Self-starter with technical and entrepreneurial competencies to expand client relationships and establish new ones. 

  • Demonstrated success in leading and motivating technical teams with a professional and results-driven approach. 

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or commensurate Engineering degree. 
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience, with 4 years in project and/or program management roles; design of wastewater linear infrastructure and facilities or similar complex infrastructure and systems, as well as business development experience. 
  • Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Washington (or ability to obtain) is required; additionally, PE in the state of Oregon, Idaho, California, or Arizona is preferred. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification (or the ability to obtain) is desirable. 


 

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $153,600 - $230,400 annually for this position and local market.
