Job Responsibilities:
• Works under general direction.
• Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

• Supports material/design/packaging/process changes to the product line through design control process, with well documented research/analyses. Demonstrates accountability for successful and timely completion of designated tasks.
• Develops technical solutions to complex problems using sound engineering principles, utilizing experimental, computational, and analytical methods.
• Designs and develops in vivo and in vitro models to evaluate product/packaging features and improvements.
• Applies innovative & logical risk-based approach to product and packaging development challenges with the capacity for original thinking. Develops robust test methods, design test fixtures and executes measurement system analysis.
• Ensures compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound quality assurance principles.
• Plans, executes, and analyzes design of experiments (DOE).
• Writes, implements, and leads bench studies, tolerance stack up analysis, design verification, validation, vendor interactions, materials specifications, component specifications and packaging specifications.
• Performs data analysis using statistical tools, regression analyses and develop transfer functions.
• Collects, records, reports, interprets, and analyzes data, presents results to peers and business leadership.
• Provides advanced engineering skills and product evaluation support to the platform toward building business cases for new opportunities.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Sound knowledge of engineering first principles.
• Working knowledge of packaging industry standards and regulations, including: ISO-11607/ASTM
D4169, packaging materials (flexible and rigid) & sterilization processes, packaging and labeling
test methods.
• Strong technical judgment and technical leadership skills.
• R&D functional planning, requirement generation and technical (DFSS/Design/Cross functional) reviews for all product development phases.
• Strong project management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills to work within tight deadlines.
• Proficient in solid modeling (Pro/E, SolidWorks or equivalent).
• Ability to communicate concepts, ideas, and knowledge effectively and clearly to other individuals and teams.
• Experience in directing associates and leading small cross-functional groups is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Project.
• Disciplined phase-gate product development processes and project planning.
• Proficiency with fixture design including basic machining considerations and developing test methods.
• Understanding of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).
• Knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) practices, and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.
• Product development considerations for tightly controlled high-volume manufacturing process.
• Strong creative, analytical and problem-solving skills required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
