  • Base salary will be in the range $67,587 - $74,394 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 3)

  • Based at our picturesque St Lucia campus

About This Opportunity 

An exciting opportunity exists for two enthusiastic and reliable Law Clerks to join a high-performing, collaborative in-house legal team at The University of Queensland.

In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting UQ’s lawyers across a diverse range of legal matters, contributing to the delivery of high-quality legal services within a complex and dynamic university environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to build your legal skills, work alongside experienced professionals, and make a real impact from day one. Comprehensive training and mentoring will be provided to support your professional growth and success.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Work under general supervision to provide high-quality support to the legal team within tight timeframes.

  • Undertake legal research across a broad range of practice areas and summarise findings for lawyers.

  • Assist lawyers with a variety of matters, including drafting legal advice, reviewing documents, and liaising with internal clients and external stakeholders.

  • Draft and revise a range of legal documents, such as research agreements, confidentiality agreements, student placement agreements, licences, and commercial contracts.

  • Prepare and collate materials including chronologies, briefs to counsel, and updates to legal templates and client resources.

  • Manage competing priorities effectively, maintain clear communication with supervisors, and ensure all deadlines are met

About You

  • Completion of year 12.

  • Demonstrated legal study and/or experience working in a legal practice.

  • Demonstrated ability to undertake legal research and present findings in a well-
    formed and logical manner.

  • Thorough knowledge of legal databases and resources.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

  • Effective time management, organisational skills, and attention to detail.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check.
