Join our onsite team as an Application Systems Analyst/Developer within the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) and the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL) at Washington State University. Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime exempt.

Monthly Salary:

$4,942.10 - $7,569.55 | Commensurate with qualifications and experience


In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Able to work occasional weekends and evenings.

  • Physical eligibility required for working in a Biosafety Lab-2 and -3 (BSL-2/ BSL-3) environment. See the following link for more information. https://www.cdc.gov/training/QuickLearns/biosafety/

  • The successful applicant will also be required to sign a confidentiality statement to protect the privacy of health information to the extent allowed by law.

  • Experience in planning, analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing software applications.

  • Experience researching technologies that increase an organization’s efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Experience working with applications that utilize relational databases. Proficiency with programming languages (such as C#, Python, Java, etc.) and application development.

  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL) and writing complex queries.

  • Experience working with RESTful web APIs.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to independently drive projects to completion.

  • Authorization to work in the US.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in computer science, management information systems, or relevant field.

  • Experience with hospital and\or laboratory information management systems.

  • Experience working in a diagnostic laboratory or a medical environment.

  • Experience with the design and implementation of clinical instrument integrations.

  • Experience with C#, .NET Core, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Experience with SQL Server and MySQL. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion) and deployment pipelines.

  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies. Understanding of common terminology standards like LOINC and SNOMED.

  • Experience developing standard operating procedures, technical documents, and diagrams.

  • Experience with business intelligence tools like Quicksight, Tableau, and Power BI.
