Your role with us:
As our Kitchen Hand / Barista you will help support the café and kitchen duties. This role will be critical in assisting our fast-paced growth and ever-expanding office and workplace experience space!
Your hours will be 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday, based out of our vibrant CBD office.

What you will do:
- Beverage preparation: prepare a variety of coffee, juices and smoothies, such as espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha and iced coffees, follow the recipes and standards set by the café.
- Espresso machine operation: operate the espresso machine proficiently, ensuring that the coffee is brewed to the correct specifications, including adjusting grind settings, tamping and monitoring extraction times.
- Customer service: provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, taking orders, answering questions, and making recommendations based on the customers preferences.
- Menu knowledge: be well informed about the cafes menu offerings, including coffee varieties and allergies of staff members and personal preferences.
- Milk texturing: froth and steam milk to create lattes and other milk based beverages, ensuring the milk has the correct texture and temperature.
- Cleanliness and maintenance: maintain a clean and organised work area, including the espresso machine, coffee grinder and other equipment. Regularly clean and sanitise all work surfaces and utensils.
- Quality control: ensure that the quality of beverages meets the cafes standards by tasting and adjusting as necessary.
- Time management: manage multiple orders simultaneously, efficiently preparing drinks while maintaining quality and minimising wait times.
- Customer interaction: engage with customers, build rapport and create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the café.
- Inventory management: keep track of coffee beans, milk and other beverage supplies, restocking as needed and notifying management when supplies are running low.
- Training and development: participate in training sessions to improve barista skills and stay updated on new coffee trends and techniques.
- Food safety and development: adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handwashing, food storage and temperature control.
- Maintaining a clean and organised workspace with attention to detail, including liaising with the Cafe Manager & Workplace Experience Specialist regarding any feedback or requirements for our cleaners.
- Breakfast service management: manage the daily breakfast delivery across multiple floors, ensuring food is presented neatly, refreshed as needed and packed away promptly after service, maintaining café standards and presentation expectations.
- Kitchen upkeep and maintenance: oversee the cleanliness and organisation of kitchen spaces on each floor, including stacking and unstacking dishwashers, checking and replenishing kitchen supplies and providing feedback to the cleaning team to maintain a high standard of hygiene and functionality.
What you will bring:
- 1-2 years’ experience working in specialty coffee
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Great time management
- Ability to work through stressful situations
- Excellent customer service
- Basic computer skills using Google Suite
- Good vibes!
Bonus points if you also have:
- Experience with stock, maintenance, reporting and ordering
- Experience liaising with cafe’ supplies providers
